Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the world of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in Fortnite. That said, if gamers will truly desire to equip it is another question, as there's only one Springfield car everyone is itching to drive, and this new offering isn't that one.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the famously flawed car Homer designed personally in the 1991 installment "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what players are receiving. We aren't even getting the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in the tenth season. Rather, fans are getting the Simpsons' standard beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Even though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it remains an iconic symbol of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

And it's not the sole customization item from the series arriving in the game. The event will additionally feature a series of challenges to earn additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. As detailed in a official announcement, the challenges will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to The Simpsons’ residence, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been revealed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also receive wheels with a TV showing the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which brings a brand-new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration begins on November 1st and ends on Nov. 17.
